-[PR]- LAN party??

Fellas, i've been talking with fully and i reckon we should try this out. Who would be keen for a LAN *cough* piss drinking *cough* party? We were thinking of doing it in TP as most of the boys are around that area or there abouts and the coastal boys would easily fit in a patrol (which i have lol) We would need a venue and Fully has suggested his games room which would work damn good. We could do it over here even... We'd have to organise a place but i'm sure we could set something up.... We'd just have to pick a time, venue, get the hardware together and stack the eskys... We'd all need to drag our pc's around and have the games we decided on set up but i'm sure we could organise something like we did at work with Quake 3 (inland boys Team 3) where we were all using a cracked copy... would give us access to heaps of different games with Grid, V8 Supercars, Counter strike, Quake, COD4, COD5, early COD, Doom3, BF2, BF2AIX, Wolf ET, Crysis, RTS even etc etc you name it we could make it happen surely!! (would be cool as playing something for the first time where no one has the advantage lol... or the hacks for it!! heh heh)

PC hardware could be an issue with being able to run the stuff but i will "lend" my laptop out for those who require it and it can run COD 4 nice so it could well be of use. I know Fully has a more than capable laptop too and if you ask nicely or gobble his wang lol he might let you use it.... I'm sure a few of the boys would even have "loaner" gear if required....

Anyways, point is, it really wouldn't be that hard to do and it would be damn good to get the regiment together for a RL social thing rather than always being in contact over vent...

So who would be keen, when would you be available and whats your thoughts? Lets make something happen, either before xmas, after or sometime next year... lets just get a plan in motion and do it... We could even put the word out and drag in some closet locals who haven't hear of the reg yet?

Get your ideas out anyways and let me know what you think... discussion is the best way to get it rolling so bring on the comments and spark some interest.

I'm in Thursday night would be the best when I shift change apart from that just enough notice so I can put in for leave.

Good shit dude... i'm thinking more of a Friday night Saturday thing, you know get pissed stay up late, pillow fights, baby oil... lol nah not really... but if we do it over a weekend, stock the esky's with plenty of piss, crank the barbie, we'll have ourselves a damn good sesh imo... but we'll need to work it out so everyone is available for it hey... So it'll mean working in with the TP boys roster, Wether Belleye can get the time off, and getting us coastal boys over... Other than that, it should be a cake walk... I'm keen anyways, and i know fully is... Just have to get it sorted. Can see it being next year tho at this stage... but lets cross it when we come to it hey....

Give us enough time to organising leave and I'll have a 2 in 3 chance of being there unless it's in January which I've got off.

Fellas at this point it looks like a Jan sesh hey, how many of you blokes would be able to commit to a weekend then some time? I have bought an 8 port switch which should get us started, we may need more but if we get the numbers i'll just grab another switch. Depends on how many we get i guess so if you can make it, let it be known so we can plan it up...

We still need a dedicated server box though so if anyone has the suitable harware "laying" around let me know.

Well iam keen for it fellas and iam more than happy to have it at my place if yas want too! Or if its at the coast i will be able to take a few over in my car. Honky not sure what a server box is but let me know if i need to buy anything and i will get it.

Server box is an old whore pc capable of running a dedicated server mate... They need to be reasonable pc wise but don't neccessarily need to be anything kick arse... if anyones got an old whore laying around thats all we need....

Sounds like a freaking fantastic idea, Fully has filled me in on the dets at work, and im keen as. im not going anywhere over christmas, so a weekend thing would be fine. I have a spare ( last ) computer thats capable of playing all the games listed, it has an 8800gt so i dont mind lending it out if need be, Or put to use as a server hub for us all.

Fellas lets get something sorted with the Lan party hey? I know the interest is definately firing up so lets lock in some dates.

Now we need to have a yarn about it and i reckon the best bet is to hit vent and discuss. How about we set a time for it during the week or something? Thursday night maybe? We need to do it soon as i'm off from this Sunday and won't be able to do too much... So lets get everything discussed and squared away and we'll be right to come back after xmas fired up and ready to lan like mofo's!!

So suggestions? If we get a time locked in i'll set up a reminder in xfire and steam so we hopefully get some people on to discuss it... Might even send a newsletter alert out or something to get all the info to those who can't be bothered hitting the forums regulaly too...

Ok fellas here's a list of things that we sorted from our discussion last night. Please add your thoughts to it and we''ll finalize the setup so everyones happy. Let me know if you disagree or have a suggestion.

Details
• Venue to be advised still. At this point our first preference is the Civic centre. Second choice is the Community Centre. Minsup is going to organise this. Donations may be required to cover the cost of booking.
• Date is now set at the 7th of February to fit in with rosters. Hashman, Dtour and Biggnats to confirm wether they can get time off.
• We will set up Friday night and someone will camp the night at the venue to act as security. Possibly myself and Nick.
• Saturday morning Early start Barbie breakfast from 7.30. Barbie lunch at 12.
• Glenn will supply Barbie and gas bottle
• BYO Food and drinks etc.
• Esky’s will be provided by TP local boys as required
• BYO power boards, extension leads and Ethernet cables
• Non TP locals requiring accommodation will be housed by Glenn
• Coastal people will be able to hitch a ride with either myself or Splinter. Leaving lunchtime Friday.
• Spare pc’s will be available – Minsup x 1 desktop, Fully 1 x Laptop. My spare laptop is already taken.
• Event will be open to the public. Will need to place fliers up around TP and also some in Karratha.
• I will build a server box for the event. Glenno to supply screen for it.
• Glenno to supply 16 port switch. I will bring an 8 port switch and will purchase another just in case.

Event Rules:
• Everyone will need to scan their pc’s for Virus’s and spyware before the event. 2 free programs to do the job will be linked in the forums and links will be emailed to people joining from the public. This is required as we are sharing a network and could possibly lead to others getting infected.
• It would be worth while for everyone entering to set a system restore point before we start.
• All cracked games will be tested pre event and thoroughly checked for any malicious infections. However no AV is perfect and there is always a risk that people must accept.
• People must be ok with installing software to their pc’s and they must also have enough room to do so. Approx 15 gig would be a good start. Sharing of files etc will also probably eat up some gigs so the more room you come with the better.

Wrapped up really well Honky, the only change will prolly be the location, the community centre seems to be the better option at the mo....... Its got air con, but i will wait for Minsup to find out if we can have people stay there. If so that would be the go!

Now Fully hasn't posted it yet but a venue has been organised and it's none of the ones we originally thought of.... it's better!!

The event will now be held at the function room at the pub. Full aircon, full security, perfect spot. Brim's step dad is the manager and he is hooking us up... for nothing.... only catch is we need to buy our piss from the pub... omg... major drama's... not!!

It's perfect hey... we can take our eskies in np, just grab the contents from the drive through.... Can still set up on Friday night, barbie is already there for breakfast, counter meal for lunch... damn this thing is going to be EPIC!!

One of my mates from para would be keen to have a run too but he wants a game of some RTS type stuff if we are to twist his arm... so happens i have some "copies" of the new CC game that could do the job...

Any one be keen for it? Glenno? i know you don't mind that sort of thing and prolly toad too... anyone else up for it?
