=PGN= LAN Party V2 Details!!

You may have already read through this as part of the newsletter i've sent out but i thought i would throw it in here for general comment or if anyone has ideas or suggestions. so read below and tell me what you think and if your happy, lock it in with the missus, grab a carton and lets frag on!!

Details:All people taking part in the event do so knowing that their equipment is their own responsibility. People must also be aware that with any sort of event like this there is always a chance of infection from viruses etc and the potential for damage to your rig. Every care should be taken by everyone participating to ensure their equipment does not adversely affect others. It is a requirement that before you come to the event you have scanned your pc for malware, spyware and viruses with the following 2 programs. Malware Bytes for Viruses and Malware and Super Anti Spyware for Spyware. The 2 programs can be obtained from the following websites. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

They are both free to use and are definitely some of the best around for detection and removal. Please make sure you run an update before running them to make sure you have the latest signatures and run the scans as late as possible before setup night. It’s also very worth while to create a system restore point pre event just in case.

Setup for the event will be held on the Saturday Morning. For info on this myself and Fully will be your best contacts. No’s are: Honky: 0400 768 351 and Fully: 0400 771 801. I am going to have tested everything as much as I can pre event but there’s always going to be something to sort out so best get it sorted early so lets all aim at getting there by around 8 AM!!

Your Rig: You only need to bring your own power board, leads, monitor, PC, keyboard, mouse and your headset. Speakers won’t be required. You will also require your own Ethernet cable. If you don’t have one grab one with some length to it, around the 5 metre mark. Smaller ones will be ok but if it’s longer than required it’s no dramas to coil it up and it’s a lot better than being too short!! These can be purchased for about 15 bucks each from any pc shop if you don’t have one. I suggest naming your stuff too, things like power boards etc will easily get mixed up so if you don’t want them to get lost it’s a good idea. It will be possible to use wireless at the event to connect to the server but this should be seen as a last resort. Ethernet cables are far better anyways.

Games: You will need room on your pc for new games if you do not have them. Around 20 odd gig should suffice but it won’t be a bad thing to have more. If you need to make room I suggest doing it before the event to save from being left behind while you sort it out. Set up etc should all be completed as early as we can on Saturday so be ready for it. Bring your own games if you have them but if you don’t copies will be provided. After the last LAN we had it’s pretty clear what the main games we played were. COD pretty much dominated and can be installed on multiple PC’s for those that don’t have it. TF2 this time will be a good option and I will message everyone further about how to set up Steam in offline mode etc. BF2 AIX is untested as a LAN game but shouldn’t be too hard to set up. As far as I can tell it can be set up exactly the same as COD using multiple copies. I will endeavour to test this as much as I can pre event. The server has AIX running on it already so it’s just going to be user end that we need to sort.

Venue: The venue is the Tom Price Community Centre and it will cost around $120 a day, so be aware that we may all need to chip in some cash. $10 - $20 should cover it… I doubt that will break the bank for the majority of us but we’ll sort it out on the day.

Piss and Food: Alcohol is BYO and we’ll organise a few Eskies and ice to keep them cans chilled. Unsure about breakfast at this stage. Last time we had a barbie breaky at Glenno’s. I’m pretty sure there is a barbie at the Community Centre so if people want to go that option then it will be BYO. Lunch will be a counter meal at the pub for those that want to refuel. The pub is across the road and within stumbling distance so is a damn good option. For those kicking on till late, Pizza’s might be the go so those still there can all chip in and we’ll carry on. Again, the pizza place is within stumbling distance so is another good option.

Accommodation: People requiring accommodation will be able to stay at Glenno’s place but will require their own bedding etc. Bring a swag if you’ve got one and you should be right.

Anyways, that’s enough rules and regs for now. Should be another awesome event and I’m keen as for it… The last one was EPIC and I’m sure this one will be even better!! Drinking piss and gaming all day with good mates… it just doesn’t get any better hey…

Ok one thing that has kinda put a damper on the LAN... the damn piss license can only run for 6 hours... so we're going to be licensed from 6 until 12 on the day. There's a 2 grand penalty if we break that license and from what i've heard the cops have been checking them hey... so until the license comes into affect at 6 PM i would expect you blokes to keep the piss consumption hidden.... lol... so no cans on tables, no bottles of piss laying around... we can pack the eskies just not drink... So cans of coke and hip flasks will be the go!! lol... a mans not a camel after all.... geez!!

Ok so i rang up the coppers and cleared a few things up... Because we're a private function, we're not actually selling piss and it's BYO, we do not need a piss license.... which means we can piss on all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drunken LAN madness is back on the cards lol... hmmm... now i think about it alcohol and expensive PC bits don't play nice... but i'll just have to take that chance lol

IMO we should aim to get there by around half 8 - 9 o'clock just to give everyone enough time to get their PC's sorted and to get the server running etc... it's not gonna matter if people rock in later... but if we aim to get it done early we can iron out any bugs we have and get a good run at it.... better getting them sorted early than half way through hey... I'm up for an early start anyways...

ill hopefully be there by 8:30, just one question is the tp hall near the shops?? haven't being there for a few years so can't really remember where it is haha.

Boys,

For those of you that are coming down from the coast with Honky, Make sure you have a swag or something. I only have one spare bed + one mattress + one swag. It might be a bit cosy in the loungeroom, but if someone gets scared of a room full of guys (or if a couple of you want to sneak out for some "quality time", I can set the tent up outside.

It might pay to bring a blanket and pillow just to make sure you don't have to snuggle up to big Toadbuster.

yeah i've been meaning to ask about that, what exactly happens at the end of the awesomeness? you know when do we finish up, when are we getting home and how.

Dude it's all walking distance to and from so it shouldn't be a problem hey. As for getting home, mate we'll be driving out of TP some time in the morning on Sunday mate and be home hopefully some time towards early to mid arvo... shouldn't be too stressfull champ... we'll sort it out as we go anyways hey...

Who's the tea totaling fool???? I heard something about someone not drinking. If this is the case, we can take my car to the awesomness and the non drinker can drive all the hardware home.

Ok boys we're almost there... just a friendly reminder to make sure you have followed the steps in the newsletters/forums for scanning your machine for virus's and set up Steam in offline mode...

Other than that the only other things you need to do is buy your piss, hide your man porn collection and come on down for the carnage!! Bring it on boys!! the cars packed and ready to go!!

i registered for my learners about a month too late and now have to do 120 hours of driving instead of 50. i only got up to fifty before i moved to karratha and now i don't really have anywhere to drive.
